Weekly Run Information

The formal run sessions that Netley Abbey Runners hosts are designed to support runners of all abilities and are split between social runs and formal training. The sessions are primarily organised to support experienced and improving runners. Sessions for new runners can be set up on request. Regardless of the session, there will typically always be a run leader at the rear of the group to ensure no-one is left behind.

Formal Club Runs (Lead by Run Leaders):

Tuesday Evenings (7pm)

A faster pace session for experienced runners that varies from 10-15 Kilometers in distance. This session is typically run around the Netley/Hamble/Weston Shore areas, but can go further afield on occasions. The sessions are typically run on pavement, but can move onto local trails in the Summer. The run is normally supported by 2-3 run leaders so there is plenty of capacity for natural varieties in pace.

Wednesday Evenings (7pm)

A slower paced session for improving runners, that is typically around 5-7 Kilometers in distance. This session is typically run around the Netley and Weston Shore areas. The sessions are usually run on pavement, but can move onto local trails in the Summer. The run is normally supported by 1-2 run leaders, so allows capacity for natural varieties in pace.

Thursday Evenings (7.30pm)

This is the club training session. It is designed to improve the speed, strength and conditioning of the runners. These evenings are deliberately varied and include a mixture of hills, endurance and track work. These sessions are deliberately designed to challenge the individual regardless of ability and improve running capability over time. This session is designed and run by our club coach.

{Please note that safety is a primary concern for all formal club runs. Therefore, please take note of any special instructions the run leader gives at the start of the session. If you have a niggle, or a condition that you think may affect your abilities, please advise the run leader at the start of the session. When running at night, please ensure as a minimum that high visibility clothing or accessories are worn on the sessions. A head/body torch is also strongly advised. }
