League Runs – Why They Matter

Netley Abbey Runners is part of the local running leagues, CC6 , HRRL & RR10, and we pay as a club to take part. To score league points, we must field a minimum team at each event.

What counts as a team?

  • 4 runners are needed for a team (Ideally 4 men and 4 women)

  • Without this, the club scores no league points, even if NAR runners turn up

When we ask for a “team”, it’s simply to make sure Netley Abbey Runners is represented and our results count.

You don’t need to be fast

League runs are not about speed. Points are based on finishing positions, not pace — every finisher counts.

If you run steadily, are near the back, or are building confidence, you are just as important to the team as the fastest runners.

What league runs are really about

  • Turning up and supporting the club

  • Running as part of a team

  • Enjoying different events and routes

  • Wearing the NAR vest with pride

In short: we need people, not speed. If you turn up and finish, you’re helping the club
