Runs and Training

At Netley Abbey Runners, we welcome runners of all abilities (as long as you can run 5k). Our sessions mix structured training and social runs, designed to keep you motivated, improve your fitness, and most importantly — enjoy running.

We’re proud to be fully inclusive. No matter your pace, there will always be a run leader at the back, so nobody is left behind.

Not quite at 5k yet? Don’t worry — we regularly run Couch to 5k courses to help you reach your goal. Keep an eye on our social media for the next start date.

Try a Run With Us – Your First Session is Free

Curious to see what we’re all about? Come and try a run with us for free — there’s no pressure to join until you’re ready.

Some sessions (like Tuesday evenings) are more structured and can cover up to 10k with stops for intervals and pacing, while others are purely social.

How it works:

  • Choose a session that suits you

  • Email runcoordinator@netleyabbeyrunners.com to let us know you’re coming

  • This covers you under club insurance and ensures we can contact you in case of cancellations or changes

  • Turn up, run, and see if we’re the right club for you

👉 Don’t forget a body torch or headlamp in darker months, plus hi-vis clothing.

New to Netley Abbey Runners?

Thinking about joining us or coming along for a trial session? Here’s what to expect.

We’ll greet you, do a short safety brief and place you in a group to suit your current pace. We regroup and loop so no one is left behind.

Tuesday evening or Wednesday sessions are great starting points. Unsure? Email runcoordinator@netleyabbeyrunners.com.

Trainers, weather-appropriate clothing and (in darker months) hi-vis or reflective kit. A light post-run snack/water is handy.

You’re not too slow. Walk breaks are absolutely fine. Our ethos: Everyone Welcome. No One Left Behind.

No — leaders guide the group and keep everyone together using regroup points and looping.

Complete the online membership form; once processed you’ll get Coacha access and an invite to the Members’ Facebook group.
